Apple has announced that its annual Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) will start on June 2, and as usual will be held at San Francisco’s Moscone West. The five day extravaganza will see developers congregate to hear about all things iOS and OS X, and will include technical sessions with Apple engineers. For the rest of us, well, there’s typically always a fair bit of consumer news from the event. If you’re keen you can apply for tickets via the WWDC portal from today through Monday, April 7. Tickets will be issued by random selection. If you’re successful, you’ll know by…

Lumia930feat
Microsoft announced a whole slew of updates and new product details at its Build conference yesterday, but tucked among the Windows 8.1 and Windows Phone 8.1 announcements was a new high-end Lumia 930 smartphone, alongside two other lower-end 630 and 635 devices. Unlike the Nokia X device revealed at Mobile World Congress this year, the new Lumia additions all run Windows Phone 8.1, rather than a customized version of Android. Then calls were made to abolish mobile roaming costs completely, with a view towards “safeguarding citizens’ right to access an open Internet.” Today that vision has become a reality. Neelie Kroes has been one of the main drivers behind this reform, with the outspoken European Commission VP a strong proponent if a single ICT and telecoms market, previously saying she would “fight with my last breath to get us there together.” Perhaps the most significant nugget from today’s news is that the European Parliament has…

Those ties are official now that Reddit has joined Imgur’s first round of funding, which is led by Andreessen Horowitz and totals a respectable $40 million.  Imgur has long been held up as a model for bootstrapped success, but the startup has turned to VC help as it moves into the next stage of growth. The company said it plans to use the money for internal growth, product development and to grow its community. When I spoke with Imgur founder Alan Schaaf back in January, he said…
