Google brings its Universal Analytics next-generation analytics platform out of beta

Google has announced the public release of Universal Analytics, its revamp of the Google Analytics platform for a multi-device world. Universal Analytics was first announced in October 2012 and released as a public beta in March 2013. Universal Analytics now offers feature parity with the classic version of Google Analytics. The company is also gradually rolling out its User ID functionality, which tracks users anonymously across different devices and sessions. The new platform includes three new types of tracking code (JavaScript, SDK and Measurement Protocol), additional configuration options and custom dimensions and metrics. At its Build 2014 conference today, Microsoft announced that developers will be receiving an Xbox One and a $500 Microsoft Store gift card. Terry Myerson, Microsoft’s EVP of Operating Systems Group, announced both to huge applause from developers. Choosing the Xbox One over the Surface 2 or Surface Pro 2 fits into the company’s story of convincing developers to target multiple platforms with its apps. We’ll be seeing a big push from the company this year focusing on that vein. Microsoft traditionally gives away something at its conferences, and two items shouldn’t be a shocker. Nokia announces the $599 Lumia 930 smartphone: 5-inch display, wireless charging and 20MP camera

At Microsoft’s Build 2014 conference today, Nokia announced its flagship Lumia 930 smartphone. The device is built for the upcoming Windows Phone 8.1 and features a 5-inch display, wireless charging and a 20MP camera with optical image stabilization. It’s powered by a 2.2 GHz Snapdragon 800 quad-core processor. Nokia plans to begin selling the Lumia 930 in Europe this June for $599. Unfortunately for US customers, the phone won’t come Stateside, as Nokia plans to focus on the Lumia Icon and the Lumia 1520.
