Twitter targets advertisers with app download shortcuts for tweets and seamless MoPub integration

Twitter wants to make its short-form social network the premier place for advertisers, brands and developers to market their products. To that end, the company today introduced a new tweet format that includes a prominent app download link. It’s currently being tested in private beta and gives Twitter advertisers a new way to encourage downloads across different mobile app marketplaces. Nokia puts European Lumia 2520 sales on hold following potential electric shock risk from charger

Nokia has issued a product recall for the European and UK variant of the AC-300 charger that is supplied with each sale of a Lumia 2520 tablet, following the discovery that it could cause harm to users. As a result of the issue, the 2520 tablet has been withdrawn from sale for the time being in some European markets (Austria, Denmark, Finland, Germany, Russia, Switzerland and UK) and the also affected “travel charger accessory” has been withdrawn from sale in the US. In the meantime, Nokia is advising that anyone who has the AC-300 charger or the travel charger accessory not…

Flickr apps overhauled with new look and features for editing images and adding filters [updated]

Yahoo today launched a major update for its Flickr photo app on iOS and Android, bringing a completely overhauled and redesigned look to the table, as well as a few new features. As well as re-engineering and redesigning large elements of the app for both platforms, the team said it has also made it easier to take photos and videos from within the app and added advanced editing options for your images, like a plethora of Instagram-like filters and image enhancement tools. There’s also now the option to capture up to 30 seconds of HD video with live filters applied….

BBC iPlayer and Sky’s iOS TV streaming apps are currently experiencing problems

The BBC iPlayer and Sky’s Now and Go TV apps for the iPhone and iPad are both experiencing problems today, with some users of Apple’s mobile devices unable to access the services. According to a BBC report, the problems began last night and affect both the iPlayer app and Web platform when accessed from iOS devices. The organization posted an announcement on iPlayer saying: “We are aware of reports from users encountering an ‘Insufficient Bandwidth’ error message when attempting to play programmes through the iPad app. This is currently under investigation and we will update this FAQ when we obtain further information.”…
