Microsoft completes acquisition of Nokia’s Devices and Services business, price ‘slightly higher’ than $7.2B

As expected, Microsoft today announced the completed acquisition of Nokia’s Devices and Services business. The acquisition was approved by Nokia shareholders as well as by governmental regulatory agencies around the world. Former Nokia President and CEO Stephen Elop will now serve as executive vice president of the Microsoft Devices Group, and report to Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella. He will oversee not just Nokia mobile phones, Lumia smartphones and tablets, but also Xbox hardware, Surface, Perceptive Pixel (PPI) products, and accessories. Online learning company Udacity expands its iOS app to support the iPhone

Udacity is making its online learning platform more accessible on mobile by expanding its iOS app to cover the iPhone. Udacity for iOS was originally an iPad-only app, but the company is bringing its video lessons – which include 12 full courses and 26 free and ‘open’ courseware — to smaller screens. The change will allow users to “take a Udacity course wherever is convenient for you.” In addition, Udacity is also introducing an offline mode that allows users to download videos which can viewed even when they have no Internet access.
