Nintendo will new launch new consoles that are specifically designed and priced for emerging markets next year, Bloomberg reports. Company president Satoru Iwata told the news agency that its emerging market consoles will be entirely new, rather than modified versions of existing products. “We want to make new things, with new thinking rather than a cheaper version of what we currently have. The product and price balance must be made from scratch,” Iwata said, although he declined to provide more specific information about what is planned. Nintendo announced plans for mobile and web companion apps for its Mario Kart franchise, but still the firm is…

Adobe has launched Voice, a free multimedia iPad app that puts the creation of narrative, animated videos directly into consumers’ hands. It features real-time motion graphics, audio sweetening, and HD video output without the need for photo or video experience or design training. Adobe Voice is designed to substitute for and enhance PowerPoint-style deck presentations by placing the emphasis on both audio and visual elements. It’s targeted to small businesses, educators, and students who want to create an original message with artistic flair. Built on the foundation of After Effects motion graphics, Voice facilitates the creation of animated videos that inform and persuade. Though…

uberFAMILY1
Uber has announced uberFAMILY, a subset of uberX that caters to families with kids. Launching first in New York City, the service offers car seat-equipped vehicles for a $10 surcharge. UberFAMILY, news of which leaked out last week via VentureBeat, uses top-rated drivers from uberX that have been trained and certified in car seat installation. In New York, uberX operates as a commercial service rather than the ridesharing option used in some cities. Uber worked with safety design firm and manufacturer IMMI to create a custom seat for the program. The carseat accommodates children aged one year and up. To try out the service, you have to…

The Nintendo section attracts a crowd on
Nintendo previously intimated that would release a smartphone ‘companion’ app for its console games in the future. Today, a day after releasing poor annual financial results, the Japanese firm has confirmed that its first app will launch before the end of the year. The app will work with its Mario Kart 8 title, but it won’t be a game per se. Instead, Nintendo says it will be an app that allows users to watch video and peruse data and statistics from their gaming. There is also a Web-based component to the app, tentatively named Mario Kart TV, which allows the same game footage…

domokun-seene
Obvious Engineering, the computer vision startup behind the 3D photo app Seene, is showing off an upcoming feature to the service that will let you capture a full 360-degree model of a subject and even export it for 3D printing. The video itself only shows a 180-degree capture of a subject (Domo-kun, for the win!), but Obvious Engineering CTO Sam Hare said the feature is currently capable of tracking all the way around. Seene launched last October with a new kind of photo that lets you capture and view the subject from multiple angles by rotating your phone. Since launch,…
