"For nearly twenty years, the West has said Iran will have an atomic bomb within three years. By now they should already have an impressive nuke arsenal. Facebook is testing a new way to help you find your friends called ‘shortcuts’ that’s not too dissimilar from sharing your phone number to get connected. The new feature spotted by The Next Web’s social media intern Carlos Sandoval offers an unique 8 digit number to help you find friends quickly, as opposed to searching for them by names, which aren’t always entirely unique. If you enter a friend’s shortcut, the app takes you directly to their page. The feature, which appears to have only rolled out to a small amount of users, is an interesting way to find friends that goes above…

After Bitly was compromised this week, the company has shared more information on what actually happened to the service yesterday in a post on its blog. The company says that it discovered there was strangely high traffic to a backup of the service’s source code that wasn’t initiated internally. After quickly determining that a staff member’s account had been compromised, the company immediately invalidated all Twitter and Facebook credentials and forced internal password resets to ensure user security. Bitly says that no production data was accessed or changed and as a result of the attack it is accelerating development on a number of…

Google appears to be testing a stunning Gmail overhaul that puts the focus solely on email

Google is constantly testing new designs and features, but Geek recently spotted a beautiful new visual overhaul of Gmail’s web interface. The leaked images show a radically simpler inbox with less clutter and a big focus on email itself. These leaked desktop designs also match up with a previous leak of mobile Gmail’s new interface. A hamburger menu on the top left hides labels to reduce visual overhaul and a new button on the lower right reveals a menu that offers actions the user can perform, such as composing email or setting a reminder. Stars appear to have been renamed ‘pins’…

Sean Jennings is the Senior Vice President, Solutions Architecture at Virtustream. It’s no secret that most new industries consolidate as they mature, and the enterprise cloud market is no exception. In the last few years, mergers and acquisitions have made headlines as cloud vendors battle it out for a top spot in the relatively new and rapidly growing enterprise cloud market. According to Gartner, by 2016, most of new IT spending will be in the cloud, so the choice behind cloud acquisition targets will be key for cloud vendors looking to boost their offerings. Enterprises have become savvier about what…

Mariel Norton is a copywriter for a digital marketing agency, and is also a relationship blogger for WeLoveDates. Less FaceTime, more face-to-face time. Tallulah Wilson was just 15 years old when she took her own life back in October 2012. The gifted ballerina had been receiving treatment for clinical depression, but whilst creating an online fantasy of a cocaine-taking character, she began to share self-harm images on social networking site, Tumblr. Shortly after her mother discovered Tallulah’s account and had it shut down, the teenager jumped in front of a train at St. Pancras station in London. Back in 2002,…
