youku
Youku Tudou, which is often viewed as a Chinese version of YouTube, has revealed that its mobile daily video views have surpassed 400 million. What’s more, the revenue earned from mobile sources has passed 30 percent of Youku Tudou’s total sales to date. For comparison’s sake, YouTube says that over six billion hours of video are watched each month on its platform, with mobile making up almost 40 percent of the global watch time. Youku Tudou is China’s largest online video site with more than 450 million users, formed after a billion dollar merger in 2012. With more people in…

Popular publish platform Medium introduced an iOS app in March and today, two months later, it has made the beautifully simplistic app available for the iPad too. Medium for iOS remains read-only, but the new update now lets you follow other users from inside the app — in a Twitter-like fashion — and add a note when you recommend content from your mobile device. Thailand’s army has warned users of social media in the country that it will shut down websites and services if they are used to excessively criticize the military coup that it staged on Thursday. The army took 14 national TV stations and as many as 3,000 radio stations off-air this week as it implemented martial law before seizing power from the elected government. While it forced one national TV station to suspend a YouTube feed that was maintained after terrestrial broadcasting was suspended, the Thai army has left the Internet largely untouched. However, it has summoned the country’s ISPs to a meeting today. Thailand has not…

A futuristic Google tablet is in the works, which is packed with sensors and has advanced software that can take precise 3D images of objects, the Wall Street Journal reports. The tablet is said to have a seven-inch screen, and will come with two back cameras and infrared depth sensors. According to the Journal, the effort stems from a Google research project, known as Project Tango. In February, Google released a prototype smartphone out of that group, which also boasted sensors that could come up with a 3D map of your surroundings. Google is said to plan to produce about…
