wwdc_2014_3
Apple on Monday showed off OS X Yosemite with a flat design at its annual developer conference, WWDC, in San Francisco. The company first introduced its flat design aesthetic with iOS 7 last year. OS X Yosemite is available to developers today. The free consumer release is scheduled for this Fall, though non-developers can sign up for public beta access this Summer. When the link goes live, you can sign up for the beta here. With Yosemite, Apple has added translucent layers to Finder and the Dock, and a dark mode for menus. Notification Center now has a Today view, similar to iOS. Developers…

Excel Function Bible released

Jun02

Posted In: Around the Web

Hi all

Together with Norman Harker I add this page to my website :  Excel Function Bible

The Excel Function Bible is aimed at providing meaningful and practical help in finding and implementing the 468 Excel functions. It replaces and adds significantly to the help users can call for whilst building or using Excel workbooks. To make it easier to navigate through all the Excel functions example workbooks(using a nice Ribbon interface) It will also be available as a add-in soon. But for now we (Norman Harker and me) have upload 468 Example workbooks to my site. There is one example file for each worksheet function. This is an evolving project. We would appreciate users providing us with additional examples of typical or extremely useful applications of the functions especially in conjunction with other functions. All examples provided will be appropriately and prominently acknowledged. Similarly, we don’t pretend to be perfect and would appreciate reports of any bugs or errors that may have crept in.

You can download separate function files in the classification pages or download all the 468 workbooks in one time on the index page.

Line shutters a third of its games to refocus on more successful titles

line_ft_img2
Messaging company Line has announced a significant purge of its mobile gaming apps that will see nearly one-third of the titles on its gaming platform bite the dust. Line has closed games before, but the shuttering of so many (20) in one go is a first for the Japan-based firm. Gaming is thought to be responsible for more than 60 percent of Line’s revenue — which stood at $143 million for its most recent quarter — with in-app purchases the key money-maker. Part of Line’s success is knowing which games are resonating and making the most money per user, so it makes sense that it discards those that…

Chromebooks headed to nine more countries, Google confirms with a poem

What better way to announce the upcoming availability of Google OS-powered Chromebooks in nine new countries than with a poem? Well, hard details of arrival dates and which models will be available in each region would have been nice, but rather than that Google confirmed that the devices will be coming to New Zealand, the Philippines, Norway, Denmark, Mexico, Chile, Belgium, Spain and Italy. Just not exactly when they’ll arrive. To be fair, the company does note in its verses that for Mexico and Chile “tons of apps and free automatic updates are starting today” and that Belgium, Spain and Italy will be opened…
