Apple has reached a deal to settle a civil lawsuit filed against the company over e-book pricing, according to a report from Re/Code. The company lost an antitrust trial into e-book pricing last year and, in the wake of that, a case representing consumers across 33 states was filed. The plaintiffs sought as much as $840 million in compensation, but it isn’t clear at this point how much the settlement will be worth. Nest has begun selling its Protect smoke alarm again, after the device was taken off the market for two months following safety concerns raised in April. Protect will now be available for $99 in the US (or £89 in the UK), a reduction on the original $119 price, but it does not include the feature that lets users disable the alarm with a wave, which was the source of the original concern.
