USA
There are two words that strike fear into the heart of most* early adopters around the world: ‘US only.’ Yes, there’s nothing we hate more than to read about a cool new app or gadget only to discover that it’s only available in the USA. Seriously, it’s infuriating. *Since most people in the world aren’t in the US, it’s fair to assume that most early adopters are outside the US too. Take today’s launch of Slingshot, Facebook’s new app. Roberto from our team covered the launch from the US and I (sitting at home in the UK) decided to download…

Do you know what your dev team is working on right now? I bet the answer is a million different projects, all with varying degrees of importance. It’s easy to accidentally overwhelm your development team, but crucial to operations to prioritize so all the work gets done. To find out how the most successful entrepreneurs were managing, I asked a panel of 10 founders from Young Entrepreneur Council (YEC) the following question: What system do you use in your company for routing tech complaints/tickets to your dev team without slowing them down? 1. Everyone has an accelerator nowadays and Microsoft is no different. At its Global Startup Day event in San Francisco today, the company that Windows built put 11 companies on stage to present their company for VCs, journalists and analysts. General Manager of Microsoft Ventures, Rahul Sood took the stage and talked about mentoring companies from around the world to bring “creativity, engineering and business together.” Of the startups that brought those elements together at the event, these three are our favorites. Von Bismark Apparel shopping company, Von Bismark is deploying virtual mirrors that place 3D representations of clothes on shoppers this summer. Pick the…

eBay has taken its Sell for Me valet service onto mobile with the release of an eBay Valet iPhone app that does your selling for you, as reported by TechCrunch. With the app, users can get estimates from eBay representatives, print out shipping labels for items, and track auctions once they’re live. When the item sells, you’ll get 70 percent of the money. Unsold items are either returned to you for a charge or recycled. The app’s implementation actually sounds similar to Sold, a startup that sold itself to Dropbox late last year. eBay Valet does sound like a great option for…

In the intersection of technology and art, the question is not whether there are brilliant ideas, but where to find them. That’s where the Space Open Call comes in. From now until July 11 — just in time for London’s first technology week — artists worldwide are invited to submit their ideas for an original digital art piece with the aim of having it produced. The Space Arts, a group created by the BBC and the Arts Council with the intent of creating a digital art platform that promotes technical and artistic freedom of expression, will accept submissions of original ideas. This open…
