Moscow-based startup Readymag, which provides users with the ability to create and distribute online publications, has announced its latest update. The platform is gunning for the likes of Squarespace and Wix but focuses more on ‘micro-publishing’ – providing publishers with the tools to easily set up mini-sites, online magazines, presentations and photo stories. The update brings to the table a variety of responsive layouts, templates, custom domain names and integration with Adobe Typekit, which provides free access to over 1,500 fonts. The Citizen Evidence Lab includes step-by-step…

Just as the new wave of smartwatches offer much of the Google Glass feature set without the stigma of wearing a computer on your face, they may replace the need to wave your smartphone around in front of you to get data about your surroundings too. We’ll need to see more high-end smartwatches with cameras attached first though. The wrist isn’t a…

Jonathon Bernstein is a freelance photographer, director, and producer with a love for both digital and film. He’s worked with publications, organizations, and bands including MTV, Google, Brooklyn Vegan, St. Lucia, and Cage the Elephant. This post was originally published on the Shutterstock blog and has been reprinted with permission. I recently spent the weekend with a group of friends exploring an abandoned psychiatric center on Long Island. As always, I made sure to bring a few cameras to capture the experience. It’s more than just equipment that makes great photos—vision and approach are just as important as the location and…
