eBay has been working to integrate the acceptance of Bitcoin into its subsidiary Braintree, the Wall Street Journal reports, though eBay and PayPal won’t be accepting Bitcoin initially. The WSJ cites sources as saying that PayPal officials have met with Bitcoin companies including Coinbase in recent weeks, and they are still in the midst of reaching an agreement. eBay acquired Braintree last September and introduced full PayPal support in its SDK just last month. The move to introduce Bitcoin, even starting with Braintree first only, would be another boost to the cryptocurrency. Things have been looking up for Bitcoin recently, what with…

Whisper’s new non-profit project offers resources to battle bullying and mental health issues

Anonymous sharing app Whisper has launched a non-profit project that is focused on helping those suffering at the hands of bullying, depression and other mental health issues. The growth of apps like Whisper, Secret and YikYak — which allow users to share information under the cloak of anonymity — have raised concerns about mental health and bullying. Just last week, Fortune exposed major issues with Secret’s system for detecting bullying — now Whisper’s founders are responding to “a need we couldn’t ignore”, as they told Re/Code. YourVoice is their creation. The website includes videos from those who have overcome difficulties, and resources for anxiety, bullying, stress, sexual…

Fractograph — a term not yet in the Oxford Dictionary — describes a variation on the photo mosaic theme, photo mosaics being a tableau derived from hundreds, or even thousands, of smaller individual images. That’s at least part of the inspiration behind Fractograf, a new, free iPhone app that bonds photo mosaic, photo/video collaboration and social networking into a dynamic, shareable image. When you magnify a fractograf you’ll see that it is made up of other, smaller images, just like pixels in a digital photo — the company calls these elements fraxels. A fractograph differs from a photo mosaic in significant ways: It is seamless, friends can contribute to them, it allows…

While everyone is clamoring to get something on our wrists, most don’t actually record biometric information from their skin contact. Intel and SMS Audio decided to do something different by engineering something we already use and it could make Intel a major playing in the wearable market. “In the wearable space, we see a lot of hype. I don’t think the market is ever going to be that big if all we have are just square cellphones taped to your wrist,” says Mike Bell, General Manager of Intel’s New Devices Group. Instead the two companies have announced the SMS Audio BioSport In-Ear Headphones….
