Apple is planning to upgrade the security notifications for users of its iCloud storage service, after a number of celebrity accounts were compromised and personal photos were stolen. Speaking about the incident for the first time, Apple CEO Tim Cook told the Wall Street Journal that the intrusion was a result of third parties accessing accounts using the correct username and password, or phishing scams. Tesla has announced that it will build its $5 billion battery Gigafactory in Nevada. News of the deal leaked out ahead of time, but the partnership is now official. The company first announced its plans for a Gigafactory in February. Its goal is to produce more battery capacity by 2020 than was produced worldwide last year, enough for 500,000 vehicles. Tesla expects cost savings of as much as 30 percent by the end of the first year of production of its mass market vehicle. If you’re jonesing for a coffee and it’s too far to walk, the Starbucks iOS app was just updated with Uber integration. Now you can call a black car to get your black coffee. The app is live now but warns that you “must have the Uber app installed and be in a city where Uber is available.” Seems fair enough. When you click on the Uber button in the Starbucks app for a store you’d like to visit, it launches the Uber app. From there it’s the typical Uber experience except at the end you get a hot cup of caffeine….

Following the release of Firefox 32 just two days ago, Mozilla today updated its Firefox Beta channel to version 33 for Windows, Mac, Linux and Android. Unlike the previous release that was more focused on performance and security, this one adds new features that the company is eager to have its community try out.
