linkedin

If you can’t quite remember which computers or mobile devices are logged in to your LinkedIn account, the social network has introduced a feature that tells you just that. While logged in, head to settings and then See where you are logged in, and you should see any sessions that are currently active, and additional devices that are logged-in. In a nice touch, LinkedIn also now lets you log out remotely, should you forget to do so on a friend’s computer. Furthermore, LinkedIn is making moves to ‘open’ your stored data so you can export it and see your activity…

At its global unveiling event today, Samsung announced the Galaxy Note 4, the latest addition to its family of Android phablets. The Note 4′s 5.7-inch screen remains the same as its predecessor, but comes with several upgrades found on the Galaxy S5 such as fingerprint scanning and Quad HD Super AMOLED display, while the device is also water and dust-resistant. It is also equipped with a 16MP rear facing camera with improved light sensors, 8X digital zoom, and a 3.7MP selfie cam with a wide-angle feature expands the panorama from 90 to 120 degrees. The Note 4 runs on Android 4.4.4 (KitKat),…

flare

Flares, an app that allows users to quickly share their location in real-time, is now available to download for iPhone users in the US. While it’s described as a “mobile messaging service,” it’s not a messaging app in the traditional sense. Think of it like Yo for geolocation (or GeYolocation, as our Editor-in-Chief Martin Bryant put it). And if you’re wondering what that could be useful for, then its possibilities really are in your hands. Like Yo, it provides a simple messaging service; it’s up to you to provide the context. To use it, you just tap the button to create a message, select a…

Nokia confirms HERE maps will arrive for iOS and all Android devices by the end of 2014

Sep03
by Sindy Cator on September 3, 2014 at 12:57 pm
Posted In: Apps, Around the Web, Insider

Earlier this week, we reported that Nokia was introducing its HERE maps app to Android, though it’s launching initially as a Samsung exclusive. While it seemed inevitable that it would roll-out eventually to the broader Android smartphone ecosystem, Nokia has now confirmed that this is indeed the case. In fact, Nokia tells us that it will be expanding across Android AND onto iOS before the year is out. As with its existing Windows Phone version and soon-to-launch incarnation for Samsung Galaxy, HERE will work sans internet, letting you download entire countries and regions. HERE has been available on iOS before,…

twitter

If you spend more of your life than you care to admit perusing the wonders of Twitter, you might well be the sort of person who ends up with an unmanageable, meaningless list of favorited items that’s never looked at again. Now, however, there’s FavGuard, a new beta tool that helps you keep better track of the tweets you’ve favorited, as well as providing the added benefit of keeping them all private from other Twitter users – which is particularly handy if you’re not too fond of Twitter’s recent experiment of showing favorited tweets in other people’s timelines. To get started using…
