There’s plenty of speculation that Facebook will introduce mobile payments to its Messenger app in the future, and South Korea’s top chat app is giving the US company a glimpse of how it could work. Kakao — which completed a $3 billion merger recently and has 154 million registered users worldwide – teased a payments solution in February, and now KakaoPay has launched. Available in Korea — where it claims an incredible 93 percent installation rate on all smartphones — the service is integrated into the Kakao Talk app and will virtually store up to 20 credit and debit cards. KakaoPay is initially rolling out for Android, but there…

MOVIES

Even though it’s had $1.5 million in the coffers via a seed investment several years ago, Movli has remained an ‘under the radar’ startup for most people since its inception in 2011. The Tel Aviv-based startup has recently launched its Web-based portal for film-lovers, as it looks to “transform the world’s movie-watching experience,” as the company puts it. Following its rebrand from Taskbox last year, Mailbox-rival Boxer has finally brought its email client to the Android realm too. To recap, Boxer and its predecessor Taskbox have been offering a fairly powerful hybrid email/to-do list app for a while already, with a new look and set of features leading to claims that set it up nicely to challenge Mailbox. Now, following its acquisition of Enhanced Email back in February, Boxer is now looking to expand its userbase with Android. Boxer’s ambitions extend beyond simple email management into the productivity sphere, with a built-in ‘to-do list’ feature letting you shift your…
