Top Swedish DJ/producer Alesso will be breaking new ground on Snapchat, when he debuts the video for his last single, ‘Tear the Roof up’, through the platform later this week. Alesso’s reputation has been burgeoning in recent times, having previously opened for Madonna on her MDMA tour, and has remixed David Guetta’s ‘Titanium’, Keane’s ‘Silenced By The Night’, and OneRepublic’s ‘If I Lose Myself’. You may remember Afrojack premiered his new album through 10 second Snapchat Stories back in March, so the hitherto ephemeral social network has clearly been making moves in this direction for a while already. But by…

Microsoft today announced that it has begun rolling out Office Delve, an intelligent search feature, for its Office 365 business customers. Previously codenamed Oslo, Delve taps Microsoft’s “Office Graph” machine learning database to show your most relevant documents. The service employs a card interface reminiscent of Google Now and Flipboard. Delve currently pulls in content from email, OneDrive, SharePoint and Yammer. Microsoft plans to add support for email attachments, OneNote and Lync “over the coming months.” Microsoft first unveiled Office Graph back in March. The company says Delve is the “first of many experiences” it plans to release that hooks into the social graph. ➤ A…

Apple Reports Quarterly Earnings

With the recent furore around iCloud, stirred by the substantial leak of nude celebrity photos online, it should come as no surprise that Apple wants its services to appear a little more secure. While the company has denied any breach of iCloud in relation to the leaked images, it’s still felt it necessary to send out email alerts whenever an account is accessed using a web browser. Spotted by Letem světem Applem and MacRumors, the notification is sent out automatically and reads: “Dear (xxx) Your Apple ID (xxx) was used to sign in to iCloud via a web browser. Date and…

Microsoft Makes $44.6 Billion Bid For Yahoo

Yahoo today launched Yahoo Recommends, a publishing tool that offers personalized content recommendations and native advertising. The company believes it can help visitors discover more of a publisher’s content while helping them monetize it as well. Yahoo’s argument for the product is simple: it has been developing its own media solutions for years and so it already has the technology, since it lets digital publishers share content on its own network.
