Al Jazeera, traditionally known for being a television news organization, has today launched its first apps for its mobile-first news platform called AJ+ in a bid to better engage its audiences on a range of different devices. Available today for iOS and Android (provided you’re happy to join the beta program), the platform arranges content into different types of ‘cards’. If you’ve been jonesing for some streaming music on your Amazon Fire TV, your long tunes-free wait is over. Spotify has announced that it has released a streaming-music app for the set-top box. The Fire TV now has the Spotify Connect app that can be controlled with the music service’s iOS and Android mobile apps. But, the app only works with a Spotify premium account. Chrome for Android has a hidden search feature that suggests answers to questions as you type

Hidden inside Google’s Chrome for Android app is an experimental feature that will instantly display suggestions to various queries while you’re typing them into the address bar. To recap, these are the answers that Google would normally display right at the top of its search results. Posing the question “how old is Elon Musk?” will trigger a visual card to be displayed at the top of the page with relevant information. Maxthon launches MxNitro for Windows, claims ‘the fastest PC browser’ loads pages 30% faster than Chrome

Maxthon today released a new browser for Windows called MxNitro (short for Maxthon Nitro), which it claims is “the fastest PC browser in the world.” This is made possible with a minimal user interface load, as well as “new patent-pending pre-connection and pre-fetching technology.” The company has also stripped out features from Maxthon that it says hog resources and cause delays in both startup times and page rendering.
