It’s been a couple of years since we last caught up with MySMS, the platform that syncs your text messages across mobile, Web and desktop. We called MySMS an iMessage for the rest of us, as it means users can write texts from their PC and sync everything across all their platforms. It’s also a useful tool for backing up all your messages, for example if you’re buying a new Android phone and wish to transfer all your old messages over. Today, MySMS is lifting the lid on a new premium model, which is basically shifting most of its useful…

Apple may well have started sending out invites for what is widely expected to be the launch of a new iPad (or iPads) alongside a refreshed iMac range, but The Wall Street Journal is reporting that any plans to start selling an iPad with a larger display may be pushed back to early next year. According to the report, which cites the usual “people familiar with the matter” as the source of the info, rumors of a 12.9-inch device arriving by Christmas aren’t likely to be fulfilled as suppliers are too busy trying to keep up with demand for the new iPhone…

comix2

There’s a new chat app in town that doesn’t feature a new way to shoot selfies or make anything mysteriously disappear — and it’s not dull and boring. comiXchat, a free messaging app by Nubis that displays individual or group chats in an artistically appointed, hand-drawn comic interface, debuts today at — where else? — Comic Con New York. And it’s sure to put your conversations on a different wavelength. Avatars and emoticons are nothing new in today’s chats, and many sophisticated messaging apps feature avatars sporting facial expressions, multiple stickers or customized emoticons. But comiXchat is different. The chat interface where you can choose emoticons and…

KidsTablet

The UK’s broadcasting and telecoms regulator Ofcom revealed today that children across the UK are now less likely to have a TV in their bedroom than any time in the last five years, but are far more likely to own a tablet. Announced in the organization’s annual Children and Parents: Media Use and Attitudes Report, one in three (34 percent) UK kids aged between 5 and 15 now has their own tablet. Even if they don’t have one to call their own, in total 62 percent of children use a tablet at home. Perhaps more surprisingly, 11 percent of children aged between 3 and 4 now have…
