Skype has been quickly iterating its applications for Mac, Windows and mobile and today it announced Skype 7 for OS X and a preview version for Windows. The new version of Skype for the desktop resembles the mobile version of the app with a stronger focus on text chat and improved inline photo support. The Microsoft division also notes that it has improved the spacing in chats and contacts in the Windows version of the app. It’s also improved the process to enable text and picture messaging while on a video chat. It should now be easier to share photos while still talking…

Google is looking to bridge the gap between the complexity of its ad products and startup users’ often relative inexperience with marketing and search ads. Launched today, Primer looks to give startups the most basic of tips on successful marketing via five minute lessons (case studies, quizzes and insider tips) designed specifically for startups. Google said it “created Primer as a way to make it easier for businesses to be successful at marketing. We realize that some of the Google ad-tech products which connect businesses to customers also widen the gap between rookies and marketing pros.” Of course, helping startups to become…

Shazam today announced it is entering a partnership with Sun Broadcast Group, a network covering over 8,000 radio stations in the US, in a bid to widen its services beyond music identification. Called Shazam for Radio, the new platform will allow Shazam to create interactive content for radio audiences and advertisers. Basically, the service will allow radio stations to push content onto their audience’s devices as they listen to radio stations. You could be listening to a broadcast, open up Shazam, and be provided with more information about the current radio personality, or be informed about social network campaigns and promotions, in addition…
