Huawei-made Honor 6 goes on sale tomorrow for £250, bringing a (sort of) new brand to Europe

Honor has announced that its first device to go on sale in the UK will be the Honor 6, priced at just under £250. Smartphone aficionados will probably notice that the brand and device sound familiar – and for good reason, the Huawei Honor 6 has already been available in some markets since earlier in the year. However, it’s the push beyond the specs that are perhaps more interesting here. This is another Huawei attempt to make significant inroads into European mobile markets. While it’s already present with its own-name brand, having a second in the running hardly hurts its chances…

Twitter and Wikipedia are co-hosting a language hackathon on November 1

Twitter and Wikipedia are well known global entities on the Web, and as such the two brands have announced a co-organized hackathon with a strict focus on localization and internationalization. The event is taking place at Twitter’s San Francisco HQ on November 1, and will delve into: Localization infrastructure Community driven translation UI/UX Complex language and scripts Input methods Web fonts Twitter also says that a series of quick-fire talks and hands-on sessions are taking place, while the best hacks will receive prizes. Both Wikipedia and Twitter are avid users of crowdsourced translations, so it’s not surprising to see both…
