In a blog post today (currently down), Google announced it was introducing some new features for its Google Wallet apps. The main change is the ability to add money to your Wallet through recurring bank transfers, ensuring you always have some money in your account. You can choose from weekly, bi-weekly, and monthly options, and you can cancel the transactions at any time. Additionally, you can new set up low balance alerts to keep track of your funds. It’s an interesting move by Google as it looks to expand the capabilities of Wallet – what first started as a simple tool to pay…

1029_mcx
It has not been a good week for MCX, the company behind the QR-code powered CurrentC. After being the source of anger by many NFC-payment enthusiasts (most of them new because of Apple Pay) because partners were disabling NFC, the company was hacked and email accounts were compromised. So today, it hosted a virtual press conference to answer many reporter’s questions about what exactly is going on. According to TechCrunch, during the press conference MCX says the hack was the fault of an email vendor and that there are no fines on partner vendors that accept NFC payments. The New York Times…

Nate Munger is a Customer Success Advocate at Intercom. This post originally appeared on the Intercom blog. An inherent challenge for all early stage startups is deciding whether to focus on growth or product/market fit. It’s a false choice, as Rob Go says in his post about this conflict. They both matter. Recently I had two very positive but very different customer interactions that demonstrated the types of conversation that can help you focus on both. Plenty has been written about “getting out of the building” to talk to users and potential customers. It’s a great way to focus on…

Play Movies - Second Screen
Trying to remember an actor’s name in a movie you’re watching is horrible. You end up pausing the film and searching IMDB or Wikipedia. Google just updated its Google Play Movies & TV app to make it so you know exactly who you’re watching at all times. Now when you cast your TV shows or movies to a Chromecast or Nexus Player, the device the show originated on displays a wealth of information. The app’s new cards feature shows actor and show information. The feature looks similar to Amazon’s X-ray feature for TV and movies. The feature supports movies that…

Google’s newest Nexus phone went up for sale less than an hour from the time of this post, but has already sold out. It took less than 30 minutes for inventory to run out. That includes both the Midnight Blue and Cloud White colors in both the 32 GB and 64 GB options. Still, if you’re looking to get your hands on the new phablet, it’s worth keeping an eye on the Google Play Store for when stock becomes available again – sometimes inventory gets updated throughout the day.
