Google Trends is a great way to keep up with the popular news of a day, but what if you want to know about the newest cat video or online singing sensation? Well, Google’s now added a Trending on YouTube section for that. Note that this isn’t just for YouTube searches, however – the new section shows you the most viewed videos. You can also access the new section on mobile: It’s currently limited to the US, but Google says they plan on expanding availability to other countries soon. ➤ Google on Google+

Microsoft posts critical patch for huge Windows vulnerability that affects all modern machines

Remember Heartbleed? You know, the exploit in SSL that was so bad it got its own brand? Microsoft may have an issue of similar scale on its hands with a critical patch issued via Windows Update today. The patch in question is MS14-066, or otherwise known as the cryptically named “Vulnerability in Schannel Could Allow Remote Code Execution,” which affects Windows Server 2003/2008/2012, Vista, 7, 8, 8.1 and Windows RT. Microsoft gives few details about the exploit, other than saying that the bug would “allow remote code execution if an attacker sends specially crafted packets to a Windows server.” In other words, if an…

Dropbox adds share button to Web interface

Sharing Dropbox files and folders via the Web interface has always been a bit wonky. You select the folder, then navigate to the top of the list and click share. Or you can right-click on the file or folder and select share from the contextual menu. If only there was a button. Well now there is.
