Mozilla launches Web-based virtual reality playground

Back in June, Mozilla released early builds of Firefox with support for the Oculus Rift and today the company has announced a new site that helps show off the virtual reality capabilities of the Web. To celebrate Firefox’s 10th anniversary, Mozilla is launching MozVR, a playground — sort of like Google’s Chrome experiments — where Mozilla will be sharing experimental ‘native VR’ experiences and tests from the company that stretch the Web and the Oculus Rift to new limits. Today the Tor Project announced that it will be teaming up with Mozilla, the maker of the Firefox browser, and the Center of Democracy & Technology, an advocacy group for digital rights, as part of a new initiative called Polaris. The partnership helps both Mozilla and Tor. The Firefox browser will get more privacy features while the Tor Project will get to work with Mozilla engineers to help work on the Firefox codebase and get increased Tor network support. OS X Yosemite comes with a killer upgrade to Spotlight, the operating system’s search tool, that makes it easier to search web content as well as files and apps on your computer. Yahoo is buying BrightRoll to strengthen its video advertisement business

Yahoo CEO Marissa Meyer today released a blog post saying her company is in the process to acquire ad platofrm BrightRoll. BrightRoll currently powers video advertising for 87 of the Top 100 AdAge US advertisers, including the top 15 of these. The company serves more video ads to consumers in the US than any other  platform. The deal will make Yahoo the biggest platform for video advertisements in the US, according to Meyeer.
