Slack updates its privacy policy to let your boss export future private messages

Slack, the messaging tool for businesses that’s exploded in popularity recently, has announced today that it’s making changes to its privacy policy to allow your bosses access to export private messages going forward. Previously, there was no functionality for exporting private messages but Slack today has added a new feature called “Compliance Exports” which allows administrators to export messages from private groups and direct messages, as well as edit history for messages in channels. Compliance Exports will be disabled by default and requests must be made with a signed letter to Slack stating that the requester is allowed to access…

People love to show off their home screens periodically — like during #homescreen2014 earlier this year — and now there’s an app for that. A new app called #Homescreen from Betaworks takes a screenshot of your iPhone’s home screen, scans it and then creates an interactive image for sharing online. Once the image is analyzed, you get a special link for sharing that interactive image on Twitter. Medium launches a tool to help you build beautiful charts in seconds

Medium has today unveiled a handy tool called Charted for making beautiful charts in a few seconds. The company says that Charted was built as an internal tool by the Product Science team at Medium to help “analyze data and communicate our findings with the team.” It’s as simple as giving Charted a CSV file or a link to a Google Spreadsheet and the tool does all the graphing work for you. I threw in a spreadsheet I keep of Apple’s sales mix for iPhones and iPads and Charted spat out a fairly useful graph in seconds.
