Uber has ‘taken disciplinary actions’ against general manager for privacy violations

Earlier this month Uber got itself into hot water for a variety of items, one of which involved using the company’s God View tool to spy on riders — including a journalist — without their consent. According to Slate, Uber has finished its investigation into New York City general manager Josh Mohrer for spying on BuzzFeed journalist Johana Bhuiyan’s ride history. The company told Slate it has “taken disciplinary actions” against the executive. The Uber spokesperson wouldn’t elaborate to Slate about what the disciplinary action actually involved. Uber awaits French ride-sharing verdict that will determine its fate in that country

Uber’s troubles with both state and national governments continues. First it dropped a post two days ago stating that it was ceasing operations in Nevada as it tried to gain permission to operate in that state. Now it’s waiting for hear from the courts about its future in France. The Wall Street Journal reports that Uber is arguing in the French court that a new law that would ban the service is unconstitutional.
