Devs can now publish HTML5 apps to Amazon’s Fire TV and Fire TV Stick

Amazon has today announced that developers can now start publishing HTML5 apps to Amazon Fire TV and Fire TV Sticks via the company’s existing HTML5 developer tools. As well as adding support for publishing Web apps to more devices (developers could already publish to Amazon’s Fire tablets and Fire Phone), the company has extended the reach of some of the options. For example, apps can now support analog input from the Amazon Fire TV Game Controller and fully support the remotes for the Fire TV and Stick. More crucially, developers can now access Amazon’s In-App Purchase API, opening the door to micro-payments.…

Readdle’s PDF Office for iPad turns images into editable forms

Creating and editing PDFs on an iPad isn’t as tricky as it once was thanks to apps like PDF Pen, but productivity app maker Readdle reckons it’s made it even easier. Its latest app, PDF Office for iPad, lets you scan an image of a document and turn it into an editable form with text boxes. Readdle’s previous app, PDF Expert, already let you read, view and edit PDFs to a limited extent. It hit the iPhone this summer. PDF Office goes further with full editing and creation features. Apple and IBM today announced the launch of the first round of IBM MobileFirst apps for enterprise iOS users. The apps are available exclusively for iPhone and iPad and offer the sorts of key features businesses demand, like additional layers of security, embedded analytics and other core enterprise processes. The apps can also be managed and deployed via IBM’s cloud services. The first round of apps cover a range of sectors, including travel and transportation, banking and financial markets, insurance, retail, telecom and government.
