3D TVs are dead at CES 2015 with the fight moving to 4K and curved displays

CES was the birthplace of 3D TVs; companies trumpeted the technology in 2013 by cramming it in basically any device that would take it and 3D movies were everywhere. It felt like 3D was here to stay. At CES 2013 and then 2014, some TV makers like Vizio and Panasonic started rejecting 3D, discovering that it wasn’t working out quite the way they planned. Consumers didn’t want the technology as much as they expected, but many like Samsung and Sony pushed on anyway. This year, 3D TVs are completely, utterly missing. And it’s great. If you wanted any evidence that they’ve effectively…

BlackBerry has today revealed a few details about how its upcoming integration of the BBM service will work on Android Wear devices. When the Wear-compatible version arrives, users will be able to see who has sent a message and the content, as well as review and accept BBM invites while out and about. There will also be voice control options, allowing you to respond to messages hands-free, and a list of pre-canned responses for when you really don’t have time to reply. BBM, once a strictly BlackBerry-only affair, is now available on a range of platforms, including iOS and Android, so it makes sense…

If you’re a developer looking to build something using Twitter, life just got a bit easier. Twitter’s Developer Advocacy Team has announced that it’s sharing the social network’s most commonly requested code on GitHub. The list of 23 repos on Twitter’s GitHub Dev page so far includes how to build your own Tweet wall, the method for plotting real-time Tweets on a Google Map, how to host your own Twitter voting system, the easiest way to create a bot to auto-reply to Tweets and how to embed Tweets into your iOS or Android app. Twitter’s also added a visual index of its code…

Ubertesters adds bug tracking tool and ‘lite’ option for teams that don’t need the frills

Ubertesters, a platform for testing mobile apps across a range of different operating systems, has added support for a new bug-tracking tool that sits alongside the Jira and Mantis bug reporting systems. Announced today, the new feature means that developers shouldn’t need to use multiple platforms to test their apps, thereby simplifying the process and hypothetically speeding it all up. The bug tracking system (in combination with the existing reporting options) allows users to not only find and report any development issues, but also set priority and severity levels, assign developers to apply a fix, and then re-assign the issue back to…
