After rumors started spreading earlier today that Blackberry was in the midst of talks to be acquired by Samsung – causing its stocks to rise suddenly by 29 percent – the company has offered an official comment: it “has not engaged with Samsung with respect to any possible offer to purchase BlackBerry.” Blackberry then goes on to say its policy is not to comment on rumors – how nice of them to make an exception – and will talk no further about the matter. Here’s the full statement: BlackBerry Limited (NASDAQ:BBRY)(TSX:BB) (“BlackBerry”) is aware of certain press reports published today with respect to a…

Executives of the two companies met last week to discuss a potential transaction but no sale has been made yet. Shares of BlackBerry stock rose over 25% after the news. Samsung may be using the purchase as a way to bolster its struggling smartphone division.

Google today updated its Drive app for Mac and PC to introduce a few handy new features. First off, you can now view the upload status of your files as they sync via a new menu button – neat if you want to make sure a file uploads before leaving your house. It will also show you recently synced files, and let you share them right from the menu. More useful for some will be the ability to limit Drive’s upload and download bandwith via the app’s preferences menu. That’ll help you have those Netflix videos streaming smoothly, or keep you from complaining…
