It’s been a good first run: Google is ending its Glass Explorer program next week, TNW has learned. This means the company will no longer sell Google Glass in its current form. However, the wearable isn’t being abandoned completely: Glass is simply finishing its run as part of the Google X experimental unit, with Nest CEO Tony Fadell now chief-in-command for the program. Google acquired Nest last year. That said, Nest’s engineers aren’t taking over the product’s development. Instead, it’s being upgraded to its own entity within Google. The program will continue to be led by Ivy Ross who, along with the rest of the Glass team, will report to Fadell. Google…

Chrome’s Remote Desktop tool has been a great way to control your desktop from afar on Android,  iOS and desktop browsers. Now, as developer François Beaufort spotted, you can access the feature on Chrome OS too. To try it out, you have to be on the Chrome OS development channel (basically signing up to be a beta tester). Once you are, you simply need download and launch the Remote Desktop app and click on the Share button. Most developer channel features are eventually integrated into the mainstream releases, so you can expect the feature to show up for all Chrome OS in due time. Image Credit: François Beaufort…

Five years ago, you’d have been hard-pushed to find a wide range of personal cloud storage services. Now, they’re ten-a-penny, and that’s no bad thing – with increasing competition, prices for users fall. Nonetheless, going up against Amazon, Apple, Dropbox and other big name companies is a pretty daunting challenge for any startup. Trunx, a photo sharing and storage platform, is hoping to take on the incumbents by cutting at their margins. While it was once offering free unlimited storage for all, the time has come for the business to try and monetize – a tricky balancing act to pull off…

There’s no shortage of tech on hand to help you plan a home makeover, but UK startup Shortbite has come up with one of the best solutions that we’ve seen – DigitalBridge. The technology allows you to take a photo of a room and then work with that photo to change the wallpaper and flooring, hang pictures and even add new furniture. While this isn’t the first time this has been done, it’s usually achieved through real-time augmented reality –such as in the case of Cimagine. Here, it’s instead being done through deep analysis of still images, making the results more…

ShareDesk, a marketplace for coworking spaces which launched in 2012 and has signed up over 2,400 venues in 70 countries since then, has revealed Optix, a cloud-based platform to make running a shared office easier. The platform allows venue managers to control all aspects of managing a space. Optix includes features like real-time venue availability and instant booking. It aims to simplify transactions and coordinating member activity. The system combines billing and payments, CRM and analytics about usage to give venue managers insights on how they can make the most of their space.
