It’s not often (if ever) that a US Supreme Court Justice is considered — shall we say — with it. But that fate has been bestowed upon Associate Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg (aka Notorious R.B.G.) who has become a certified Internet meme unto herself. Not only does Notorious R.B.G. have her own Tumblr (and a forthcoming biography derived from it by none other than Tumblr creator Shana Knizhnik and MSNBC reporter Irin Carmon), now she’s got a tattoo created in her honor that has popped up on that other symbol of trendy Internet hipness, Instagram. #notoriousRBG #dontbeahateritsruthbader #thefaceofthelaw #ruthbaderginsburg #supremecourt A photo posted by Nikki Lugo…

Choosing headphones is confusing. Some sets are tuned to get the bass pumping during your workouts. Others are better suited to quietly enjoy classical music. And every manufacturer has its own idea of what sounds “best”. But what if you could tune the sound to your liking without the need for an equalizer? That’s what Reid Heath Acoustics (RHA) is aiming for with its new $200 T10i. We’ve been fans of RHA’s headphones before; couple this with an injection-molded steel build and a 3-year warranty and you’ve got our attention. Design and comfort RHA’s headphones have always been strong on the design front,…

jimmy kimmel password
In the wake of last month’s Sony hacks, Jimmy Kimmel, experimental social scientist and talk show host, took to the streets of Hollywood to address cyber-security with today’s internet users. He does so by asking random strangers their passwords, and awaits as each interviewee reveal their secret sauce without hesitation. While some of those interviewed may not have spelled out their passwords directly, you could easily put the clues together with Kimmel producers’ followup questions. Seriously, internet, if your password is “password” or a combination of your birthday and pet’s name, it’s time to rethink your strategy. Or not agree to appear on national television.…

Facebook is sharing some of its technology. The company’s artificial intelligence research team today announced that it is open sourcing its deep-learning AI tools. The software will be available on the Torch library, which serves as an open-source environment for machine learning development. Torch is widely used for research in academia, as well as by companies like Google, Twitter and Intel. Facebook claims its deep-learning modules are significantly quicker than the default ones available through Torch, and allow the company to work on larger neural networks in less time. Notable improvements include a 23.5x speed-up over publicly available convolutional layer codes, and the ability to…
