Videos of people paragliding are pretty incredible to watch on their own, but this group of adrenaline seekers took it to the next level. By mashing their flight video up with GPS data, this site lets you track the flight in real time all the way to the bottom on a Google Map next to the video. You’ve got to watch it over on Track Sphere to get the most out of the experience. The GPS data makes it even more gut wrenching to watch as the person descends, since you’re able to see the big turns and dips before they happen on…

The first question I asked Slack’s CEO and co-founder Stewart Butterfield was a selfish one: when will the app get threaded comments, so TNW’s editorial team can use it full time. Sadly, he could only confirm that they’re “coming soon,” one of a bunch of new features that the app, which hit a $1 billion dollar valuation late last year, has in the pipeline. Onstage at the DLD Conference in Munich, Butterfield confessed that he doesn’t exactly know why Slack has succeeded: “I get in trouble with my PR team for saying this. But I have no fucking idea.” I suggest…

It’s hard to imagine that any existing work by Gordon Parks, famed photographer, writer, musician and movie director, had not yet seen the light of day. But that was the case with his recently released trove of black and white photos depicting life for African-Americans in the 1950s pre-civil rights era. These recently discovered images are now gathered into a new exhibition, Gordon Parks: Back to Fort Scott, that runs until September 13, 2015 at Museum of Fine Arts Boston. These photos originated from an assignment to document the effects of school segregation, given to Parks as Life Magazine’s first full-time black photographer.…

Jan19
