Facebook
Facebook has teamed up with the Electoral Commission to show every adult user of the site in the UK a message tomorrow, reminding them to register to vote ahead of the General Election on May 7. Facebook makes the point that 27 million people in the UK visit the site daily and 35 million go there at least once a month. In the 2010 General Election, 29 million votes were cast. People of voting age in the UK will also be able to add a ‘Life Event’ to their Facebook timeline to show they’ve registered to vote. According to research by…

In the summer of 2013, Sky launched a small, Roku-manufactured £10 streaming box. And frankly, for the cost, we thought it was a pretty reliable way to turn your boring old TV into a ‘smart TV’. Today, the company revealed in its annual financial statement that a “next-generation” Now TV box will be arriving later this year.  As part of the update the UI will also be revamped. Microsoft’s virtual assistant Cortana can now predict the result of Premier League matches, but it’s not good news for Spurs or Everton fans. The company announced late last year that it was bringing Premier League forecasts to its Bing Predicts feature. Now those predictions are baked into Windows Phone 8.1. Cortana’s picks for this weekend’s big Premiership derbies suggest Liverpool are 12.5 percent more likely to beat Everton, while Arsenal have a 13.1 percent advantage over their North London rivals Tottenham. The predictions are based on Bing’s data modelling, which combines social sentiment, search trends and historical game data. If you haven’t got a…

iPhone6
For the first time since the end of 2012, Apple’s iOS platform leads the way in terms of mobile OS market share in the US, according to the most recent figures from Kantar’s WorldPanel ComTech report for the last three months of 2014. Admittedly, according to the figures, iOS’ margin  over Android was pretty darn fine – just 0.1 percent – but it suggests that Apple’s iPhone 6 and 6 Plus launches last year are being received well around the world. According to the report, the second most popular device (behind the iPhone 6) in the US was the Samsung Galaxy…
