Twitter is testing analytics on the Web for individual tweets

It looks like Twitter is experimenting with a new analytics feature on the Web; some users can now see statistics for individual tweets on their timeline. I’m able to access the analytics by clicking on a small bar graph button to the right of the favorites button. My colleagues, on the other hand, do not see the feature at all. Once you click, you’ll be presented with information such as views, favorites and clickthroughs. Some other users spotted the new feature as as well: Oh nice, looks like Twitter is testing post by post analytics on the desktop version now.…

Password leaks are horrible for users. For companies, they’re an embarrassment and sometimes they lead to legal action. LinkedIn was part of such a lawsuit and today Ars Technica reports that it settled that suit and the affected users will each get about $1. That’s right. For a company allowing hashed user passwords (the passwords were not salted, making it easier for hackers to decrypt the leaked login info) to be stolen by hackers, its users won’t get enough money to pay for a 16-ounce soda. LinkedIn agreed to pay $1.25 million into a fund and lawyers being lawyers will get…

Medium, the minimalist blogging platform, is implementing significant changes to its model in a bid to both appeal to widen its pool of authors and readers and make its content more discoverable. First up, there’s a new inline editor that takes a page from Twitter; it lives at the top of your homepage and is meant to help you get started writing as soon as an idea pops into your head. You don’t have think up a title and formatting options have been simplified; you can just write a sentence or two and publish. If you want more time, or need more…

Last year Facebook released Origami for OS X for designing interactive user interfaces. But, for some reason you couldn’t actually prototype those interfaces on iOS. Today, the company fixed that. Origami Live for iOS lets you run those prototypes on the device you’re probably building those interfaces for in the first place. Just plug your iOS device into your Mac to check your design. The suite also supports live editing so you can see changes on-the-fly. Facebook also updated Origami for OS X. Version 2.0 supports code exporting, gesture support, Sketch integration and presentation mode. You can download both tools…
