Facebook is testing a new feature that allows it to autoplay videos related to whatever you’re watching once the first one ends, according to Recode. While it has already been autoplaying videos in your Feed for sometime now, and has been offering related video suggestions since Q3 2014, this is the first autoplaying of titles that we’ve come across in this way on the social network. According to the report, the feature currently only works for some users accessing the service via iOS and Android devices. Of course, there’s no guarantee that the feature will ever be offered more widely,…

WECHAT

WeChat has introduced a new feature called Voiceprint which allows you to log in to your account without your password by reading a set of numbers out loud. We discovered the update this morning after logging in and while there has been no official announcement from the company regarding the new security feature, it has also been noted on social media. We have only seen the feature on iOS so far and cannot confirm that it is available on Android yet. The system works by using the unique sound of your voice to identify you, similar to a fingerprint reader. WeChat…

Each week we’re profiling one company that has been selected for Boost – our early-stage startup growth program. Catch up with these companies in person at The Next Web Conference Europe on April 23 & 24. As someone who works as part of a geographically distributed team, I can appreciate the desire to pitch up at a co-working space and tap out a few words from time to time. decomments
Anyone who’s had to launch a WordPress-powered website in the past few years knows about the point where a choice has to be made of which commenting system to install. Should you stay with the built-in self-hosted comments, or maybe install a third-party system like Livefyre or Disqus, or maybe get Facebook comments because almost everyone has an account there anyway? Meanwhile, some publications are closing their comments sections altogether, moving the conversation to social networks, like Reuters did last year with its news stories. A recent new entrant on the comments scene is De:comments, a plugin that builds an advanced…

BT4G_feat
BT, the UK’s incumbent telecom infrastructure owner and national landline provider, today announced its first moves back into offering consumer-facing mobile services with BT Mobile. Initially, its not offering up hardware, so customers will need to provide their own handsets to take advantage of the SIM-only plans, which start from £5 per month for existing BT Broadband customers. The company said discounts for broadband customers (versus non-customers) would be as high as 50 percent. Handily, they apply to anyone in the household, not just account holders. The cheapest plan (£5) offers up 500MB of 4G data, unlimited texts and 200 minutes…
