It might not be the most surprising state of affairs, but the fan-made HD remake of Mario 64 that you could previously play directly in your browser, is now no longer accessible. Although it was just one level, it seems that Nintendo just couldn’t risk the damage to its bottom line, and as a result, you can’t play it any more. The complaint was sent by Nintendo’s attorneys to Cloudflare, which had previously been hosting the game. It says: “The copyrighted work at issue is Nintendo’s Super Mario 64 video game (U.S. Copyright Reg. No. PA0000788138), including but not limited to…

UK dwellers will be getting a flood of Press Association-curated (PA) content on Facebook’s UK Politics page to keep them up to date on the upcoming general election. The deal between the PA and Facebook was announced today and will see “the most interesting and shareable” content selected. That’ll include stories from a wide range of journalists, as well as posts from PA’s own sources, including its new digital service called Snap.pa. The Facebook UK Politics page is live now ahead of the election on May 7. ➤ UK Politics [Facebook]

If you’ve been wondering when, oh when, someone will ring you via WhatsApp so you’ll get its new voice calling feature, you won’t have to sit by the phone any longer. Updating to WhatsApp version 2.12.5 via Google Play does the trick. Once you’ve got the latest version, you’ll see a revamped interface with three tabs for calls, contacts and chats. Alternatively, you could download the APK installer from WhatsApp’s site and install it yourself. The version on the site reportedly brings voice calling too. To place a call, tap the Calls tab and then the new call button at the…

While net neutrality may have a secure future in the US, its fate in India will be decided upon soon. The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) issued a 118-page long consultation paper [PDF] on the regulatory framework of over-the-top services (OTTS) like search engines, video platforms and social networks on March 27. It says that OTTS rely on broadband and mobile service providers’ infrastructure to reach users, and compete not only with local online services, but brick-and-mortar businesses too. As in other countries, the debate is about how these services should be regulated, whether internet service providers should be allowed to prioritize…
