Apple has scored another premium cable TV exclusive for the Apple TV and iOS devices, as Showtime is announcing it will have a standalone service coming in July. Much like HBO Now, Showtime (there’s no clever naming scheme, it’s just Showtime) will offer subscriptions without a cable plan for all iOS and Apple TV users. Undercutting HBO Now’s $15 per month pricing, Showtime will cost $10.99 per month. Showtime says its Apple TV and iOS apps will arrive in time for a new series starting June 12, “Ray Donovan”. No word on how long the Apple exclusive with Showtime will last, but Showtime…

Slack introduced its updated Android app today with a new design and a host of new features including emoji support, notifications for teams and tabs. Version 2.0 also includes a new plus button hovering in the bottom right corner that allows you to start new channels, DMs, or groups. The plus button and the app’s other new design features have taken cues from Google’s Material Design guidelines. The introduction of tabs makes navigating on the app simpler and its interface looks more streamlined. The new featured tabs let you go direct to whatever channel, group or direct message you choose.…

PINTEREST
As we’ve started to dig in to the best way to connect with our audience on Pinterest, we came across an interesting question: How can we best create visual content for Pinners to Pin? We’re not in one of the top niches for Pinning: food and drink, crafts, home decor. How can we make sure that every blog post we write is as Pinnable as possible? It’s been a fun experiment to see what’s worked. I’ll be happy to share with you some of the best practices we dug up with our research and how any brand—no matter the niche or…

GoogleDriveforiOS
Google has released an updated version of Drive for iOS today that implements Material Design cues and brings performance updates to the app. Available to download now, the updated Google Drive app offers faster syncing and image loads, as well as smoother scrolling, according to the company. There’s also a new swipe gesture to allow you to jump back a screen more easily. At this point, Material Design isn’t exactly new, but it’s nice to see Google unifying the look and feel of its apps across platforms. The company is on a bit of a roll this week; it has already…

YouTube for Artists is getting its own analytics tool

YouTube for Artists Bigger
YouTube launched YouTube for Artists back in March to help boost musician’s profits on its platform, and now it’s launching an analytics tool to help them keep up to date with stats about their fans all over. Called Music Insights, the tool combines views from both official and fan-uploaded sources (claimed through Content ID) since September 2014. It also collects views from cities all over the world, letting you know where your fanbase is concentrated. Google says this can be useful for knowing how to map a tour- you’d likely want to visit a city where you have more viewers…
