I’ve been thinking about Nintendo a lot since the terrible sadness of Mr Iwata’s untimely death. He brought the company back to life by shepherding the Wii and Nintendo DS and focusing on wonderfully fun games. That’s why I think he would have loved this concept. Modules for the ‘Nintendo Smart Boy’ concept Thailand-based French designer Pierre Cerveau came up with the Smart Boy concept, which melds a modern Android smartphone with the aesthetic of the classic Game Boy. The really smart bit is that he’s taken a leaf out of Google’s Project Ara playbook (or Fairphone’s current approach) and incorporated modular elements into…

greece
It is news to almost no one that Greece is undergoing a financial crisis. The country’s 320 billion euros in debt begs the question: What in the Helen of Troy are they putting in the tzatziki that makes entrepreneurs actually want to start up in Greece? While the country faces a national dilemma of whether it will remain a part of the European Union, Greek entrepreneurs face a dilemma of their own – whether they can keep their businesses and the country’s startup ecosystem alive. Born and raised in crisis Many of Greece’s startups emerged in the last five years, a period of…

Dragula is a great drag and drop library for Web developers and has a killer name

Dragula
I’ll level with you: When I stumbled across Dragula this morning, it wasn’t the functionality of this Javascript ‘drag and drop’ library that led me to write about it. It’s the name. Who couldn’t love a pun that good? But when you actually get around to playing with the demo, you’ll see that it’s a well-executed solution for creating drag and drop experiences on Web pages. It handles dragging items very elegantly, includes smoothly applied events and has nice little touches such as quick deletion and ‘click firing’ when the button is released within a defined delay. Obviously there are lots of Javascript…

Regardless of whether you love or hate the swarm of young, good-looking social media stars that have colonized the Web, you’ll probably enjoy this: Eli Roth is using a Snapchat story to slaughter a clutch of them in inventive ways. Dumb social media star meets dumbbell As Variety reported, the whole thing is a stunt for Crypt TV, a digital network co-founded by the director. It’s all playing out through a 24-hour Snapchat narrative. So who did it? All the clues you need are in the story. #andthentherewerenone — Eli Roth (@eliroth) July 20, 2015 Viewers have that time to work out…
