Welcome back to another Moonday Morning, Hard Fork’s wrap-up of the weekend’s top cryptocurrency and blockchain headlines that you can’t afford to miss. Let’s check it out. 1. Leaders in US congress have drafted a bill that would prevent big tech companies from offering financial products and services like cryptocurrencies and digital assets, The Block reports. Dutch researchers are developing quantum technology to secure your bank account

Quantum computers are expected to be commonplace in the next five to 10 years and promise vast increases in processing power over silicon chips. It could mean great things for answering some of the world’s toughest scientific questions, but it’s also a cause for concern. With more powerful computers, and the ability to carry out more mathematical operations every second, contemporary encryption algorithms all of a sudden provide much less security than they did in a time before quantum computers. Security researchers at IBM warned that quantum computers could have the power to instantly break even the strongest encryption protocols…

Welcome to PRIME CHEAP, our series about things that are good, cheap, and part of Amazon’s Prime Day sales. Hey, we gotta eat too.  Media streamers are great. That’s all there is to it. After the scintillating finals of Wimbledon and the Cricket World Cup over the weekend, people watching at home were eagerly waiting for the next spectacle – India‘s Chandrayaan-2 launch. However, they will have to wait at least a few more days, as the country’s space agency, ISRO, has delayed the launch due to a “technical snag.” The launch was originally slotted for 15 July 2.51 AM IST (5 PM ET) from Sri Harikota Space Centre in India. The Chandrayaan-2 was headed for the moon and was supposed to land on the surface on September 6. But officials from the Indian…

Huawei may still be facing an uncertain future over its access to licensed versions of Android and Windows operating systems, but it’s been busy readying in-house replacements in case the tide turns against its favor. Now, the world’s second largest phone maker has filed a trademark application with the European Union Intellectual Property Office, attempting to register the name “Harmony” for its mobile and computer operating systems. The application is dated July 12, 2019, and is currently under examination. The description of the application reads: “Downloadable operating system programs; Recorded operating system programs; Mobile operating systems; Computer operating systems; Downloadable computer…
