In case you’ve been living in a refrigerator that’s also located under a rock, you’re probably aware that Europe is currently racked with an unprecedented heatwave. Here in London, where I’m in town for some meetings, the mercury has reached 39 degrees Celsius. That’s 102.2 degrees Fahrenheit, for our American readers. In Paris, it’s even hotter, at over 40 degrees Celsius. Insanity. Given the oppressive heat, you could be forgiven for not wanting to step outside of your climate-controlled houses or offices. That said, please keep in mind those gig economy workers who are working in these arduous conditions for…

Facebook’s been through a tumultuous period, to put it mildly. From the disruption of global democracy due to the misuse of personal data, to unfavored algorithmic changes resulting in especially gen z fleeing the platform for alternatives like Snapchat and TikTok. This tumultuousness is reflected by Facebook’s stock price, which had its winning streak broken right at the beginning of 2018. From its IPO in May 2012, to January 2018, the stock rose almost continuously, from $38 to $190. Since then, the stock’s been on a wild ride, hovering between $125 and $210. To recover from its worsened image and…

Horned up, but unable to find someone to Netflix and chill with? We have the perfect alternative for you: simulated blowjobs, available on demand and absolutely free of charge – at least for the time being. International investigators warn the ‘Ndrangheta mafia family now resembles a “criminal blockchain” following the recent decentralization of its internal power structures. Usually, ‘Ndrangheta families in Canada took orders from “mother clans” in Calabria, but for the first time, mobsters outside of Siderno are making decisions that impact operations all the way back to Italy, reports National Post. “The governing body of the Siderno branch no longer operates only in Calabria, transmitting orders abroad, but also does so directly on Canadian soil, to give it a more effective and efficient command structure,” said Italian authorities in court documents. OK, this Mafia isn’t…

There are two kinds of people in the world: those who look at monkeys and think “damn, having a tail would be fucking awesome,” and liars. While most of us just imagine though, others create. So, enter the Arque – a mechanical tail that allows humans to experience the benefits our extended-backbone brethren take for granted. Just look at this thing: The Arque was announced in the run-up to SIGGRAPH 2019, as part of the event’s Emerging Technologies line-up. It’s a collaboration between a number of Japanese creatives, specifically, Junichi Nabeshima, MHD Yamen Saraiji, and Kouta Minamizawa from the Keio University Graduate…
