"Mother's Day is a very complex holiday. It starts with a simple premise: Let your Mother know you love her. After that, she'll argue with you all day, telling you how you don't love her, just so that you have to apologize and show her how much you love her, despite being yelled at all day." ~ Yasha Harari

A judge in Canada has approved over $1.6 million in fees for businesses seeking to recover funds lost as a result of QuadrigaCX’s demise. In a legal notice published yesterday, Nova Scotia Supreme Court Judge Darlene Jamieson said: “There being no expressed opposition to the activities and accounts as presented by the monitor nor to the fees of its legal counsel, I approve the fees and activities of the monitor during the CCAA proceedings and the fees presented towards legal counsel.” “The monitor’s work has been extensive in administering the CCAA proceeding and seeking to recover funds on behalf of Quadriga and…

Google must be happy. YouTube is the world’s top-grossing app in the photo and video software category for a second quarter in a row. To clinch the top spot, YouTube generated $138 million in user spending, according to data from app market monitor SensorTower. US-based users accounted for nearly 70 percent of its revenue, followed by Japan and the UK with 7 and 4 percent respectively. This represents a 220-percent growth in revenue year-over-year, the report further notes. Tencent-backed photo editing tool Kwai came in second, followed by Chinese video sharing sensation TikTok in third. For what it’s worth, YouTube…

Sound the alarm, bang the gong, yodel down an Austrian valley; as of yesterday over 85-percent of the total Bitcoin supply has been mined. But seriously, there’s no need to worry. According to various Bitcoin blockchain explorers and market information websites, over 17,850,000 Bitcoin (17,850,600 according to CoinMarketCap) have been mined and are classed as being “in circulation.” That’s a hair over 85 percent of the cryptocurrency‘s supply limit of 21 million coins. As a result, there are just over 3,000,000 Bitcoin left to mine, until we reach the fabled 21 millionth coin. There’s no need to panic, though. The…

Posted In: Around the Web, Plugged

Welcome to CHEAP, our series about things that are good, but most of all, cheap. CHEAP! One of the disadvantages of owning a MacBook Air and getting into street photography in my free time is that I’m always short on storage space. In fact, the situation is so bad I couldn’t properly function without some sort of an external storage system – like a portable SSD drive for instance. If you’re familiar with the problem I’m describing, you’d be delighted to know that Amazon is currently selling a 2TB SanDisk Extreme Portable SSD at the criminally low price of $269,99…

Google has just announced several updates to its enterprise cloud platform with an aim to improve users, data, and app security. The new enhancements were unveiled at Google Cloud Next ’19 conference in Tokyo this week. First off, Google has expanded the scope of Advanced Protection Program (APP) to G Suite, Google Cloud Platform (GCP), and Cloud Identity customers. The central idea of APP is that it safeguards personal Google Accounts from kind of targeted attacks by making using of a FIDO-compliant hardware security key like Google’s Titan Security Key or Yubico’s YubiKey. It limits third-party apps that aren’t approved and…
