Claims of the next fastest-charging EV have become so common, they’ve almost completely lost their meaning.  But Nyobolt might just have something to brag about. The UK startup has successfully charged an EV from 10% to 80% in just four minutes and 37 seconds — just enough time to grab a coffee. Samsung backs ‘world’s most powerful’ AI chip for edge devices

Eindhoven-based startup Axelera has raised $68mn as it looks to take its AI chip business global. One of the lead investors is Samsung Catalyst, the venture arm of semiconductor giant Samsung Electronics.   Axelera is developing chips, known as AI processing units (AIPUs), that enable computer vision and generative AI in devices like robots and drones. The chips facilitate so-called edge AI — when AI models are deployed inside devices, instead of linking to them via the cloud.   Axelera builds the AIPUs as well as the software that runs them. Data centres in space could be one solution to AI’s big energy problem

As AI boosts demand for more data storage, Europe is considering sending data centres into space — and the plan is not as outlandish as it may first appear.   A 16-month, €2 million study has concluded that space-based data centres are technically, economically, and environmentally feasible.  Thales Alenia Space and Leonardo coordinated the ASCEND study, which was funded by the EU. Swiss SkyCell bags $116M to optimise pharma transport with smart cold chain containers

SkyCell, based in Switzerland, has closed $116M in a Series D round for its technological solution that improves the pharmaceutical supply chain for air travel. Founded in 2013, the startup manufactures temperature-controlled containers, using proprietary cold chain technology to monitor and optimise functions such as cooling, humidity protection, and shock absorption.
