Satoshi Nakaboto: ‘Bitcoin millionaire threatened by home invader with shotgun – jumps off balcony’

Our robot colleague Satoshi Nakaboto writes about Bitcoin every fucking day. Welcome to another edition of Bitcoin Today, where I, Satoshi Nakaboto, tell you what’s been going on with Bitcoin in the past 24 hours. As Rousseau used to say: If you love yourself, you won’t do drugs! Bitcoin Price We closed the day, September 8 2019, at a price of $10,441. That’s a minor 0.73 percent decline in 24 hours, or -$76.82. It was the lowest closing price in one day. We’re still 48 percent below Bitcoin‘s all-time high of $20,089 (December 17 2017). Bitcoin market cap Bitcoin’s market…

The feature-rich Vivaldi browser finally arrives on Android

Almost three years after launching its desktop version, cross-platform browser Vivaldi has finally released its mobile version today. The brainchild of Opera’s co-founder Jon von Tetzchner, published an Android beta version today that brings swipe gesture for navigation, built-in note-taking functionality, and privacy controls including a no-tracking option.  While the browser is in beta, I’ve been using it for a few days, and I haven’t faced any major hiccups. Here are some of the features I enjoyed in the new mobile version: Easy bookmark management Vivaldi calls its bookmarks displayed on its home screen ‘speed dials.’ They’re just tiles to access your favorite…

What to expect from Apple’s September 10 iPhone event

Apple‘s annual iPhone event is almost upon us, which means it’s officially raining Apple hardware and software. As is the customary tradition, the company is expected to unveil a number of products at the Steve Jobs Theater on its Apple Park campus tomorrow. While iPhones are de rigueur, the “By innovation only” event is much more than that. With iPhone sales hitting a plateau, the company has been steadily diversifying into services and wearables over the past couple of years. We’re most likely to hear some updates on that front as well. Here’s what to expect: The iPhone 11 The marquee…

I’ve said before that I love me a good soundbar. What’s not to love about a speaker that can upgrade your TV viewing experience with significantly better sound, while taking up minimal space? That’s why I’m excited to share today’s deal with you. Anker – which manufactures high-quality tech accessories and audio gear – also makes a soundbar, and it’s dirt-cheap right now at just $58 on Amazon in the US. The Soundcore Infini is 2.1 channel affair, and it packs dual subwoofers and two bass ports in its slim 35-inch-long case. It can be mounted on the wall or…

What happened to India’s Chandrayaan-2 moon mission?

Sep09
by Sindy Cator on September 9, 2019 at 5:14 am
Posted In: Around the Web, India, Space

On Saturday, at 1.35AM IST (Friday 4.05 EST/ 9.05 CET), India’s Chandrayaan-2 began its descent towards the moon’s surface. There was palpable excitement among the scientists at Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), the country’s government-run space agency – and among millions following live streams on their TVs and devices at home. However, minutes later, everything turned grim, and the space agency’s director, K Sivan, went to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to deliver the bad news: ISRO had lost contact with the Vikram lander when it was just 2.1 km away from the lunar surface. This is Mission Control Centre. #VikramLander…
