Oh yeah, EA’s working on a cloud gaming service too

Electronic Arts this week launched a closed beta of its upcoming cloud gaming service — and given how many similar services have been announced, it’ll take some pretty spectacular games for it to distinguish itself. The so-called Project Atlas — no, not that one — was first announced last October as, “A platform designed from the core to harness the massive power of cloud computing and artificial intelligence and putting it into the hands of game makers in a powerful, easy to use, one-stop experience.” According to a Medium post by EA CTO Ken Moss, EA is running a technical…

Watch: NASA astronauts build gorgeous zero-gravity fires for science

Astronauts aboard the International Space Station (ISS) are tasked with conducting hundreds of experiments, but perhaps none are as pretty as recent efforts to shape fire in zero gravity conditions. The big idea behind the beautiful balls of fire is figure out how to make terrestrial flames more efficient. According to NASA, the experiment has incredible implications for our theoretical understanding of flames and how gravity effects the temperature and efficiency of a fire. While there aren’t currently any direct extra-terrestrial use-cases for lighting fires in space – aside from the fact that they’re gorgeous – it’s clear that humanity…

THC cartridges linked to multiple deaths: Here’s how to vape loose-leaf instead

Hundreds of people across at least 25 US states have been afflicted with a mysterious lung illness linked to tainted THC cartridges. At least six of those are dead. Government officials and medical professionals urge people to immediately cease using these products. While it was previously suspected that bootleg weed cartridges were to blame, recent reports indicate that even reputable manufacturers and dispensaries may be peddling a deadly product. Experts believe it’s not the cannabis or THC causing the illness, but additives such as vitamin E, PG, and PEG. These come in oil form and are used to cut THC…

Pixel 4 video leaks confirm 90Hz display and the return of the ‘panda’ color

Google doesn’t have a great track record with keeping leaks under control. After last year’s Pixel 3 was almost completely revealed before launch, it seems the Pixel 4 is headed towards the same fate. Not that we mind. A series of videos and posts from various Asian sources seemingly show off the phone in near-finished glory. The hardware, at least, looks final, but most of Google’s improvements tend to be in the software. In a YouTube video from Rabbit TV, we see three colors for the Pixel 4 XL. Google seems to be returning to the two-tone color scheme of…

So KFC apparently has its own dating sim now. And I want it like I want my next helping of actual Kentucky Fried Chicken: in my face now. What if😳… You and The Colonel🤩… Went on a first date😜… to KFC😱… Haha😂.. just kidding🤠… Unless?👀 https://t.co/8gcZy3YKEN — KFC Gaming (@kfcgaming) September 10, 2019 The game, titled I Love You Colonel Sanders! A Finger Lickin’ Good Dating Simulator (wow, that’s more of a mouthful than an Extra Crispy drumstick), is an official KFC product, according to a statement they gave Polygon. It was developed by Psyop, a game developer that apparently specializes in licensed…
