This is the coolest thing I’ve seen in a while. A resourceful developer has built a browser-based online 3D game that is entirely rendered in text — and it also has a multiplayer mode. Yes, you heard that right. Asciicker (read as Ass-kicker) is all ASCII, meaning the graphics are made up entirely from colored letters, numbers, and symbols. The only exception is that the game creates the illusion of three-dimensional space. You can navigate through the game‘s map with the keyboard arrows (or WASD, if that’s what you’re used to) and also use the spacebar to jump. The best way to experience…

The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has sued ICOBox, and its founder Nikolay Evdokimov, for allegedly running an illegal token sale worth more $14.6 million. According to the complaint, raised the funds in 2017 to create a platform for issuing initial coin offerings (ICOs). The SEC says the firm sold its “ICOS” tokens to more than 2,000 investors without registering them as securities. Defendants allegedly claimed the tokens would go up in value upon trading and that ICOS token holders would be able to swap them at a discount for other tokens available on the ICOBox platform. The complaint says the…

If your Instagram feed is anything like mine, your feed and Explore page are probably littered with weight loss meal supplements, timelapses of injected lip filler, and skinny-tea promoted by a Kardashian — because obviously, that’s all we want to see when browsing Instagram. But jokes aside, the pressure to be “perfect” is putting immense pressure on young women more than ever.  In an effort to combat toxic beauty standards promoted online, Instagram announced it will tighten its policy on posts related to weight loss products and cosmetic surgery by hiding related posts from users known to be aged under 18. The…

Our robot colleague Satoshi Nakaboto writes about Bitcoin every fucking day. Welcome to another edition of Bitcoin Today, where I, Satoshi Nakaboto, tell you what’s been going on with Bitcoin in the past 24 hours. As Bentham used to say: Yolo! Bitcoin Price We closed the day, September 18 2019, at a price of $10,198. That’s a minor 0.48 percent decline in 24 hours, or -$49.54. It was the lowest closing price in six days. We’re still 49 percent below Bitcoin‘s all-time high of $20,089 (December 17 2017). Bitcoin market cap Bitcoin’s market cap ended the day at $182,998,899,156. It…
