Atari finally opens pre-orders for its VCS retro console

Atari today opened up pre-orders for its revival console, the VCS. For a few days, you can order at least one version of the VCS for a discounted price, along with the 100 or so games which will come installed with it. Atari’s had a bit of a rougher time getting its throwback console to the market than Nintendo. The Big N’s sold four million SNES Classics and 2.3 million NES Classics, at the most recent estimate. By contrast, Atari’s had to raise interest via its crowdfunding campaign. That said, it apparently offers more than either of its Nintendo competitors. While…

Google’s ‘Just a Line’ lets you doodle in AR with a friend

Earlier this year, Google released an Android app for drawing in AR called Just a Line. Doodling in AR is fun; you can make things objects float in thin air, like an art class at Hogwarts. Problem is, when only you can see what you’re drawing, you look kind of nutso waving around your phone in the air. And I mean, is your masterpiece even real if now one else is able to appreciate it? Fret no more. Google now lets you draw with a friend in Just a Line so you can both look wacky gesticulating in mid-air. Simply…

LG’s V35 brings the best of the G7 to last year’s V30

LG sure is getting a lot of mileage out of the V30. After releasing the V30S ThinQ earlier in the year with slightly upgraded specs and software, the company is at it again with the V35. Here’s the short of it: It’s the same as the V30, except with the new Snapdragon 845, 6 GB of RAM, and updated software feature. On the software front, it carries over features from the recently-announced G7, including: An AI Cam that is supposed to improve scene detection and low light performance. Google Lens for identifying objects, visual search, reading QR codes, and more.…

Report: You may soon be able to ‘log in with Snapchat’

May30
by Sindy Cator on May 30, 2018 at 5:47 pm

Snapchat might finally be opening up its platform to 3rd party developers in a secret project known as “Snapkit.” The details: Rumor has it that Snapchat is working on a developer kit which would allow third parties to access its signature camera. It’s also allegedly working on an option which would let users “log in with Snapchat” to other apps. Up to now, Snapchat’s never opened its userbase to anyone besides Bitmoji. So far, Snapkit’s little more than a rumor, so we don’t know how much access Snapchat might give to devs. Still, it might breathe a little life back…

Leak: Google Pixel 3 may get smaller bezels… and a notch

May30
by Sindy Cator on May 30, 2018 at 5:34 pm

If you were hoping Google wouldn’t go the trendy route of using a notch at the top of its phone displays, I have some bad news for you. A leak from earlier in the week suggests the Pixel 3 XL will feature an iPhone X-like screen cutout. The leak – deleted from its Weibo source, but still up on SlashLeaks – purports to show screen protectors for the Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL. Notably the Pixel 3 XL has a notch up-top, while still maintaining a somewhat chunky bottom bezel. This is akin to Huawei’s approach with the P20…
