Apple and Fitbit both like to tout the potential health benefits of their wearable devices. For a few hundred bucks, users get access to a number of sensors that chart and track everything from blood pressure to caloric intake. For some, wearables provide much-needed encouragement to get off the couch to hit their daily fitness goals. For others, the devices act as an overpriced monitor to ensure your heart doesn’t explode after snorting your eighth line of blow. “My heart rate only gets to 150 if I’m running, like really intense physical activity,” Owen (not his real name) told CNBC.…

YouTube will fight fake news and conspiracy theorists by linking to reputable articles

While blame for the spreading fake news has often fallen on social media platforms like Facebook and Twitter, they’re hardly alone. YouTube in particular is hugely influential, with five billion videos watched every day. Earlier this year, Chief Product Office Neal Mohan said the average mobile viewing session lasts “more than 60 minutes.” Imagine then, how such content can shape viewer opinions, especially when fake news has sometimes dominated trending stories. Amazon banned Confederate flags but Nazi gear is A-OK!

A recently released report indicates Amazon‘s marketplace remains inundated with offensive products related to hate groups and racism. Oddly, the only items specifically banned from Amazon for being offensive are Confederate flag merchandise, and even that ban isn’t enforced. Here’s a couple of items you can still buy as of today: US customers, as of the time of this writing, can also purchase authentic (per seller) Nazi belt buckles and rings, replica SS Waffen trenchcoats and hats, clothing with racist imagery, and flags with racist motifs – none of which are explicitly banned.
