Popular Ethereum interface and defacto token wallet MyEtherWallet (MEW) has been caught up yet another goddamn hack. This one affects users of the Hola chrome extension, specifically those who have used MEW in the past 24 hours. Hackers, who TechCrunch reports have utilized what “appeared to be a Russian-based IP address,” have taken over the Hola VPN service. Over five hours, MEW users who simply had the Hola chrome extension installed and running have had their wallets completely compromised. Bancor loses $12.5M worth of Ethereum to cyber baddies in overnight raid

Israeli digital asset exchange Bancor has suffered a major hack – a sizely $23.5 million – in yet another stark reminder that big industry players simply are not paying attention to their security. Initially described as a “security breach,” Bancor eventually revealed the hackers exploited a compromised wallet, inserting malicious code in certain smart contracts which “allowed the withdrawal of almost 25,000 Ethereum tokens,” worth approximately $12.5 million. Samsung opens world’s largest mobile phone factory in India

Samsung Electronics opened the world’s largest mobile phone manufacturing plant by production capacity in India yesterday, taking the fight to its rivals in the burgeoning smartphone market in the country. The new plant – located in the industrial city of Noida – will help Samsung gradually double its current annual production capacity in India from 67 million phones to 120 million in the next three years.
