In terms of design, paper currency in the United States hasn’t changed much in the past hundred years. Emoji update proposal includes 55 different couples — where are the gingers?

Unicode today published a blog post with a link to a short list of the candidates for the 2019 Emoji 12.0 update. Making the list are 55 emoji representing interracial couples. And it’s about time! I can’t help but wonder though, why none of the little people in them look like me. The Verge’s Shoshana Wodinsky today reported on the proposed emoji candidates, saying “it’s a win for diversity.” I’m certainly not disagreeing, it is. It’s just not a complete win. There’s a discrepancy in the hair representation. Blondes and brunettes are there, as are the raven-haired, but there isn’t…

AI-powered robot can spot Waldo in 4.5 seconds

A rubber-handed robot has proven it’s more of a whiz at “Where’s Waldo” than most humans, and it’s been given the appropriate name “There’s Waldo.” The robot has cut its hunting time down to a mere 4.5 seconds — “better than most 5-year-olds” says the video’s rather harsh description. Compound makes it easy to borrow and lend cryptocurrencies
