The largest Dutch supermarket chain, Albert Heijn, is planning its own blockchain makeover. Albert Heijn wants to stamp bottles of its private-label juice with special QR-codes. Customers can scan them with an app that will show details about its origin and supply chain. Along with major supplier Refresco, Albert Heijn will store all information related to the sourcing, production, and distribution on a distributed ledger. It’s all part of a greater plan to provide its customers with more information. There is growing consumer concern for the origin of products – particularly fresh produce. “In some cases the production process is…

A blockchain startup is claiming it has developed an algorithm that can dramatically reduce the size of digital files. If its technology is legit, it would help reduce the size of files 10,000 times – from 2GB to 20KB. Oh, and it’s launching an ICO for $50 million. The startup, called DotPlay, demonstrates its “so called” compression algorithm in the latest episode of CNBC’s Crypto Trader show. In which, host, Ran Neu-Ner visits the startup to see the tech first hand. DotPlay is claiming it uses blockchain for two things: To control view rights to content; and to run its…

Yesterday, Facebook debuted its much talked about dating service – announced at its developer conference F8 earlier this year– in Columbia.  The social network doesn’t want to compete with Tinder, but instead will take on other major players such as OkCupid and Hinge by adopting a similar approach to matchmaking. If you are an adult user in the South American country, you will see a notice at the top of the news feed to opt into the dating service. Facebook will ask you to verify your location using your device and add details such as a free-form bio, occupation, education,…

It can be tempting to continually build new features, options and details into your products. You want to give your customers even more value but you may be falling short on your current products that got you where you are today. To find out why you should stop building new features and make your current product line the best it can be, I asked a panel of entrepreneurs from YEC the following question: How and when did you realize that it was time to focus on your existing product and stop building new features for it? Uber is reportedly looking to buy Deliveroo to dominate the delivery biz in Europe

Sep21

The firm is presently valued at over $2 billion, and Uber will likely have to cough up a fair bit more than that to snap it up. If the deal goes through, it could give Uber a shot at ruling the roost in the food delivery space across Europe. Deliveroo currently operates in more than 200 cities across four continents, including 100 towns in the UK. That may not be easy though, as the company isn’t keen to relinquish control over its business.…
