It appears the downturn of the cryptocurrency market is having a ripple effect (pun intended) on the industry. Numerous blockchain businesses have been forced to close down or lay off staff to survive – and the latest one is Bitmain. The mining giant is the latest to be hit by the cryptocurrency bear market and is shutting down its Israel-based development center, Bitmaintech Israel, Globes Israel reports. The development center was set up two years ago, and will close this week laying off its 23-people-strong staff in the process. Gadi Glikberg, head of Bitmaintech Israel and VP at Bitmain, will…

The number of children with gambling problems has “quadrupled to more than 50,000 in just two years”, according to recent reports. The alarming figures come from the UK Gambling Commission’s latest annual statistics, which showed that the prevalence of problem gambling among children had risen to 1.7 percent, compared with 0.4 percent in 2016, and 0.9 percent in 2017. To put these figures into context, problem gambling among teenagers overall has actually been declining in the UK over the past 20 years. A review of research revealed that in 2000, roughly 5 percent of teenagers met the criteria for problem gambling – by…

Microsoft Teams is growing ridiculously fast

Dec10

A report from Spiceworks shows that adoption of Microsoft Teams – the Slack rival from Redmond – is growing rapidly and is set to become the second-biggest workplace chat app by 2020, surpassing both Slack and Google Hangouts. The findings come from a survey of 900 IT companies distributed across the US and Europe. Spiceworks found that the penetration of Microsoft Teams grew from 3 percent in 2016 to 21 percent in 2018. This growth can be attributed partially to the fact that Microsoft made Teams available globally in 2017. Previously, it was only available to business users of Office…

How to save all your (NSFW) Tumblr content before it’s too late

Since it seems no Tumblr posts are…
